4 common mistakes you can avoid when making UV templates

Are you making a stencil from UV film and something is wrong? Are you having trouble? Here is an article about 4 common mistakes when making UV stencils.

1. Foil storage

If you have a problem when making UV stencils, one of the causes may be poor foil handling. You take the foil out of the UV-impermeable packaging, cut off the piece you need, and put it back. Sometimes, however, you may not wrap the foil back as it should be and a small part of it becomes illuminated. If you have multiple employees working with the foil, this is even more likely.

2. Bad print

Why buy a new printer when you have one at home, you say? But do you have the right printer with quality printing?
The EPSON inkjet printers, that we recommend, work with very opaque ink. This makes them very suitable for printing graphics for UV sandblasting stencils. The print quality must be 100%, so the print must not be translucent.

3. Unsuitable lighting unit

Each UV film we offer has a recommended illumination time. However, this time is only valid for illumination units that emit a wavelength of 365 nm. If using non-original illumination units, it is necessary to have lamps with the correct wavelength and power. With non-original illumination units, the illumination time can be increased or decreased several times. Unfortunately, we are not able to advise you on this time, so you will only be able to find out the exact illumination time by a series of your own tests on each type of stencil (to verify and evaluate different illumination times).

(Note: Simultaneous lighting of the fluorescent lamps is a prerequisite for proper illumination of the UV film.)

4. Foil illumination side

It's a bad day, too many people are talking to you and you have to go make UV stencils?
We know situations like that. Even we get nervous at this point, get confused and make mistakes. It is also a common mistake (albeit a trivial thing) to mix up the sides of the UV film when lighting. When making UV stencils, one should concentrate and pay attention. Therefore, it is better to measure twice and cut once.
