Balotina (glass microspheres) is an inert and chemically stable abrasive designed for fine blasting, sandblasting, and final surface finishing. It is made from fused glass with a high silica (SiO₂) content, which gives it high hardness, a long service life, and, at the same time, makes it gentle on the treated surface.
Balotina is ideal for applications requiring precision, a smooth finish, and minimal material wear —such as stainless steel, aluminum, non-ferrous metals, or glass.
Balotina properties:
- Gentle on the surface: suitable for fine finishing
- Free of harmful substances: safe for users
- Recyclable: ideal for closed-loop blasting systems
- Suitable for both injector and pressure sandblasters
Application specifications:
- Polishing and cleaning aluminum and other non-ferrous metals
- Glass sandblasting —creating a frosted finish
- Fine blasting of stainless steel surfaces
- Final surface finishing for a flawless appearance
- Uniformity and homogenization ofsurfaces
- Polishing defects from electrogalvanized zinc coatings
- Material surface hardening (shot peening) – without the use of steel abrasives
Advantages of balotina:
- Precise and gentle blasting, without damaging the surface
- Ideal for closed blasting systems with the option of abrasive recycling
- Gentle on the material —ideal for fine surface finishes
- High wear resistance and long service life
Balotina is suitable for:
- Stainless steel
- Aluminum and non-ferrous metals
Note: Balotina is not suitable for removing larger contaminants, powder coatings, or deep rust. It is best suited for fine blasting, polishing, and matting surfaces. Upon impact, Balotina does not remove material like corundum, for example, but creates micro-indentations that do not damage the surface but rather strengthen it. The resulting surface thus appears glossy and less porous.
