Hungarian Glass Art on Tour – A Remarkable Finale in Jablonec

We had the opportunity to attend the ceremonial opening of GLASSIFICATION.HU, an exhibition dedicated to contemporary Hungarian glass art. The Czech Republic became the fifteenth and final stop of this international traveling exhibition, hosted by the Museum of Glass and Jewellery in Jablonec nad Nisou.

Several prominent figures spoke at the vernissage: Hajnal Kassai, Director of the Liszt Institute in Prague, Ing. Milada Valečková, Director of the Jablonec museum, and especially Rita Mária Halasi, curator of the entire exhibition. A highlight of the event was the musical performance by Katica Illényi, who played the unique instrument known as the theremin.

The exhibition showcases a broad range of techniques used by Hungarian artists – from traditional craftsmanship to modern decorative technologies. It is a truly inspiring celebration of creativity and artisanal excellence.

We’re grateful to have witnessed this event. It was a beautiful experience.

If you’d like to visit the exhibition, the exhibits will be on display until October 19, 2025.

If you ever plan or participate in a glass art project – either independently or in collaboration with any of the exhibiting artists – we would be happy to support such initiatives.
