White corundum is a high-purity mineral abrasive with excellent properties and a hardness of 9 on the Mohs scale, making it ideal for repeated use in pressure or injection blasting cabinets. It is used for sandblasting stainless steel, glass, or ceramics.
White corundum is a high-quality, hard, sharp-edged abrasive containing minimal amounts of free iron. It is therefore also suitable for blasting and grinding stainless steel. It is used for both coarse blasting and fine surface finishing. The resulting appearance of the blasted surface is matte.
During sandblasting, there is minimal removal of the blasted material.
Properties of white corundum:
- High hardness
- Low iron (Fe₂O₃) content
- Blasting durability over hundreds of repeated cycles
- Minimal wear during blasting compared to other conventional materials
Applications of white corundum:
- Surface treatment of stainless steel, non-ferrous metals, glass, and ceramics
- Surface leveling and deburring
- Cleaning aluminum and stainless steel surfaces
- Engraving (etching into materials, creating labels and symbols)
- Blasting prior to anodizing
