ROLLMAC JumboGlass: Enameling and Design Printing on Large-Format Glass

ROLLMAC introduces the JumboGlass, a single-roll machine designed for enameling and decorative printing on large-format sheets of float glass.

With a maximum working width of 3,300 mm, precise control over the applied layer, and the ability to quickly change out working components, the JumboGlass expands the possibilities for industrial glass decoration. The machine can be used for uniform, full-surface enamel application as well as for printing decorative patterns.

JumboGlass can alsobe used for applying our ceramic paints to glass and AQ2 organic paints.

Basic technical specifications:

  • maximum working width 3,300 mm
  • Thickness of processed glass: 3 to 19 mm
  • wet paint application rate: 50 to 350 g/m²
  • Approximate thickness of the applied layer: 30 to 220 µm
  • Processing of a glass pane in a single pass

Enameling and decorative printing in a single process

Paint is applied to the glass surface using an engraved roller operating in reverse mode. The roller rotates in the opposite direction to the movement of the glass sheet, which allows for precise control of the amount of material applied and ensures the uniformity of the resulting layer.

The specific amount of paint depends on the engraved sleeve used. The available options allow for processing sheets with thicknesses ranging from 3 to 19 mm and for adjusting the application to the requirements of a specific application.

Thanks to the wide range of application rates, it is not necessary to pass the glass through the machine multiple times. Single-pass processing helps increase productivity while ensuring even coverage across the entire surface of the pane.

An even coat without paint buildup at the edges

When applying paint with a roller to large-format glass, it is important to prevent an excessive amount of paint from accumulating on the leading and trailing edges of the sheet.

JumboGlass therefore uses a special system to prevent paint from dripping and accumulating. Automatic positioning of the application roller helps control the application as soon as the glass enters the work area.

The result is more uniform surface coverage and a reduction in unwanted paint buildup at the edges of the sheet.

In addition to the reverse-engraved roller, the machine can also use a synchronously operating engraved roller. This option expands the machine’s capabilities from standard full-surface enameling to the creation of decorative and design effects.

Faster changes to colors and production orders

When producing smaller batches or frequently changing designs, it is important to be able to quickly prepare the equipment for the next order.

JumboGlass can be equipped with an automatic cleaning system for the engraved sleeve and an integrated color-change system. These features reduce the number of manual operations required at the end of a production cycle and during the preparation of the next production batch.

A quick-release holder facilitates the replacement of the engraved printing cylinder. Additionally, the main conveyor belt, made of a special rubber resistant to oils and solvents, can be removed from the front of the machine if necessary.

Integration into the production line

The JumboGlass system can be installed on the production line alongside the GLASSLINE 3400 machine, which is designed for perimeter printing on glass sheets.

In this configuration, both machines can share a common infrared dryer. Combining full-surface enameling with perimeter printing thus helps reduce the space requirements of the production line and organize the individual process steps more efficiently.

Precise Adjustment for Different Glass Thicknesses

The working thickness is adjusted by changing the vertical position of the engraved roller. Its positioning is ensured by two lifting mechanisms driven by a gear motor.

Digital displays allow for fine adjustments, and the left and right sides can be controlled independently or simultaneously. This enables the operator to adjust the roller’s position to match the specific thickness of the glass being processed.

Ergonomic Handling and Storage of Work Rollers

A separate storage system for spare air shafts and sleeves can be mounted above the machine. The structure is separate from the main body of the machine and allows the necessary components to be stored directly near the production equipment.

This solution facilitates moving a spare sleeve into the working position while also contributing to safer operator handling.

For easier access when replacing the rubberized sleeve, an ergonomically designed, tilting infeed conveyor can also be installed in front of the machine.

A Flexible Solution for Decorating Large-Format Glass

ROLLMAC JumboGlass combines a working width of up to 3,300 mm, a wide range of ink application volumes, and precise control of the application process.

Quick replacement of printing components, automatic cleaning, and the ability to integrate the machine into a production line facilitate transitions between individual jobs. The machine is therefore particularly suitable for processors who need to enamel or decoratively print large-format sheets of float glass in a single pass.
