Corundum
Corundum
Corundum, or aluminium oxide Al2O3, belongs to minerals with high hardness (only diamond surpasses it in this category) and varying coarseness (grain size). It is a branched abrasive, light or dark in colour(white, brown).
Corundum is widely used in various industrial applications, especially in sandblasting processes that require a durable abrasive material. The lifetime of corundum is calculated to be several thousand cycles. This results in significant savings as the consumption of materials is greatly reduced.
